Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Independent Filmmaker Connection Database ("IFMCD," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the platform.

IFMCD is a streaming platform dedicated to independent films, connecting filmmakers with audiences worldwide. These terms govern your use of our website, applications, and all related services.

To access certain features, you must create an account. Authentication is handled through our secure identity provider (Supabase Auth). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities under your account.

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

IFMCD supports multiple user roles, each with different permissions and responsibilities:

• Viewers — Browse, search, and stream films available on the platform. Viewers may create watchlists, rate films, and write reviews.
• Filmmakers — Upload and manage their own films, access analytics dashboards, and manage their filmmaker profile.
• Institutions — Educational and cultural organizations with institutional licensing for curated film collections.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or revoke any user role at our discretion if these terms are violated.

Filmmakers who upload content to IFMCD retain ownership of their intellectual property. By uploading content, you grant IFMCD a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, stream, transcode, and distribute your content through our platform via Mux video infrastructure.

You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to all content you upload
• Your content does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights
• You have obtained all necessary releases and clearances for your content
• Your content complies with our Content Guidelines

Certain features of IFMCD may require a paid subscription. Subscription plans, pricing, and billing cycles are described on our pricing page.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable law
• We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice to subscribers
• Institutional licensing terms are governed by separate agreements

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to circumvent DRM or copy-protection measures on streamed content
• Download, record, or redistribute streamed content without authorization
• Upload malicious code, spam, or content that violates our guidelines
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
• Use automated tools to scrape or access the platform without permission
• Impersonate other users, filmmakers, or IFMCD staff

The IFMCD platform, including its design, code, logos, and original content, is the property of Independent Filmmaker Connection Database and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Films and other content uploaded by filmmakers remain the property of their respective owners. IFMCD does not claim ownership of user-uploaded content.

If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, please refer to our DMCA Policy for instructions on filing a takedown notice.

IFMCD is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform.

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to IFMCD in the twelve months preceding the claim.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

Upon termination, your right to access the platform ceases immediately. For filmmaker accounts, we will provide a reasonable period to download your content before it is removed from our servers.
